On St. John island, the name "Peter Bay" is synonymous with elegant and stately, luxury villas. This exclusive neighborhood is home to some of the grandest (and certainly most expensive) private villas in the Virgin Islands, if not the entire Caribbean.

Lower Peter Bay consists of about 11 acres and Upper Peter Bay is about 14 acres. As of 2003, there were about 13 homes in Peter Bay, all built since 1994.

Rotunda is a five minute drive to the National Park beaches at Trunk or Cinnamon Bays, ten minutes to four-star Caneel Bay Resort and another five or ten minute drive to the excellent restaurants and shops in Cruz Bay.

he wrought-iron entry gate to Rotunda opens to a dramatic courtyard surrounded by lush gardens, palm trees and native stone walls which lead to the main entrance.

he main house of Rotunda is an architectural showplace, which has two levels. Upstairs are two bedroom suites, each with a private terrace overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Each bedroom suite has vaulted ceilings and is equipped with television, telephone and air-conditioning. Also on the second floor is an upstairs lounge with comfortable seating for games or movies as well as a flat-screen TV, telephone and Internet connection.

St John Villa I n addition, the second floor offers an apartment which sleeps 4. There is a bedroom with a king Tommy Bahama bed, as well as a living room with a pullout bed, a kitchen and bathroom/shower. This apartment allows the visitor increased flexibility as it can be used as a fifth bedroom or a separate suite for visitors, nannies, in-laws or private chef. The apartment may be closed off from the main house and be independent with separate exterior access.
